The short version

Your videos are never uploaded to our servers. All video processing happens entirely on your device using your GPU. We have no account system and collect no personal information. The only data we collect is anonymous usage analytics and anonymous error reports to help us fix bugs.

What we do collect

Anonymous usage analytics

We collect anonymous page view and usage data to understand how many people use the tool and which features are used. This data contains no personally identifiable information.

Web: Google Analytics (Google LLC) and Plausible Analytics (self-hosted by us on Digital Ocean).
Android app: Firebase Analytics (Google LLC).

Anonymous error and performance logs

When a video fails to process, we log anonymous technical information to help us diagnose and fix the problem. This data contains no personally identifiable information and no video content.

Logged fields include: browser name and version, operating system, device type (mobile/desktop), GPU backend (WebGPU/WebGL), video duration, video resolution, video file size, and the error message and stack trace.

These logs are stored on Amazon Web Services (AWS) (Amazon Web Services, Inc., United States) and are automatically deleted after 90 days.

Language preference (web only)

The web version stores your selected display language in your browser's localStorage. This data never leaves your device.

Data retention

Anonymous error logs stored on AWS are automatically deleted after 90 days. Analytics data retention is governed by the respective third-party services listed above.

Children's privacy

This application is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

Your rights (GDPR / EEA users)

Because we do not collect personal data, most GDPR rights (access, erasure, portability) do not apply in practice. If you have any questions or concerns about data processing, contact us at support@katana.video and we will respond within one month.

We may update this policy from time to time. The date of the last update is shown below. Continued use of the application after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
